Video: Bus driver careers through red light at school crossing

The moment a bus driver went straight through a red light at a school crossing has been caught on camera.

The First Leicester driver can be heard bibbing his horn as he makes no move to slow down for the kids and the lollipop lady - who had started walking out onto the road.

Cyclist Julian Richards managed to capture the scene on a small digital camera on his cycle helmet.

He told This Is Leicestershire: "In my view, there was plenty of time for it to have stopped.

"I was so angry I followed the bus to the nearby bus stop, but it pulled off. I went back to the crossing patrol lady, who was clearly upset, and told her I had recorded everything."

Mr Richards passed the footage to Leicester City Council, which then contacted the bus firm.

According to the Mirror, bus company First Leicester said it had questioned the driver and taken "appropriate action" but did not reveal the outcome of its internal investigation.

Leicestershire Police said they are making inquiries.
