Private island for sale - complete with buried treasure
A private island, just off the coast of Connecticut, is up for sale for a cool £2.4million - and it could come complete with a chest full of pirate's gold.
Belden Island, which is in the chain of Thimble Islands in the Long Island South, comes complete with a four-bedroom cottage and small beach as part of the 1-acre plot.
The Daily Mail reports that infamous pirate Captain Kidd is said to have hidden his treasure somewhere in the Thimble Islands way back in the 17th century - and there's a chance that it could be hidden somewhere on Belden Island.
Even without the treasure, the island home is stunning - each of the bedrooms has a view of the water, and there's a wraparound porch which offers stunning views.
The 100-year old cottage boasts numerous period features, including floor-to-ceiling wainscotting. Although there's no electricity, the cooker and fridge run off propane and there is an irrigation system which provides fresh water and keeps the manicured putting-lawn in tip-top condition.
The full listing for Belden Island describes it as 'magical' and 'extraordinary' - and buyers won't have to worry about transporting their furniture from the mainland as it is being sold fully-furnished.
