Holidaymaker sues Cancun golf resort after crocodile bites off fingers

A 50-year-old tourist is suing a golf resort in Mexico after a crocodile bit off three of his fingers.

Edward Lunger, from Long Island, New York, was playing golf at the Iberostar Cancun Golf Club in Mexico where he was staying, when he heard the leaves rustling nearby.

"All of a sudden, his arm went back, and his head went back," his friend Mark Martin told the New York Post. "I saw the crocodile leap up."

The crocodile chomped on Lunger's left arm up to his elbow and used its tail and claws to drag him to the ground.

Luckily Lunger managed to pull himself away from the animal.

"The crocodile was holding me down, and I pulled myself out," he said. "I don't remember even doing that."

According to Fox Sports, Lunger lost three fingers in the attack and had to pay £11,150 for hospital treatment.

He has filed a £1.4 million law suit against the resort and says there were no warnings of reptiles and that crocodiles were introduced to the golf course "as a marketing tourist attraction and hence profit- enhancing lure."

In March, police in Spain searched for a crocodile that was on the loose. It was first spotted on a golf course near the town of Mijas and later seen stalking nearby waterways.
