London-bound flight delayed in Cairo after bomb threat

A flight to London was delayed at Cairo's international airport after authorities received a tip-off about a possible bomb attack on board.

Officials said an anonymous caller told state security that two passengers on the EgyptAir flight were suicide bombers planning an attack, reports the Evening Standard.

According to the Times Of Israel, the flight's passengers were searched in the boarding area, and luggage was taken off the plane to be checked by sniffer dogs.

On Thursday, the country's interior minister escaped an assassination attempt, while on Saturday, authorities defused three mortar rounds placed on railway tracks near the Suez Canal.

The news comes just days after a British teenager spoke out about losing her leg after a bomb blast in Egypt in July.

Deqa Hassan, 16, originally from Somalia, said she cowered on the ground as bullets flew overhead and how two policemen ignored her as she called for help.

The suspected terrorist attack in Cairo saw 20 people injured.
