Video: Hammerhead shark appears to give birth on busy beach

A video of a hammerhead shark appearing to give birth as it was hauled onto a beach in Florida has emerged on YouTube.

But after reports of the shark giving birth, marina experts confirmed that it was a group of 'suckerfish' that clinged to the shark and were trying to escape back into the sea.

The disturbing footage shows a man dragging the shark onto Panama City Beach.

According to Yahoo!, marine biologist David Shiffman wrote on his Facebook page: "The shark in this story is a male. You can tell because it has claspers, male reproductive organs.

"Also, the 'litter of pups' are remoras, not baby hammerheads. You can tell because they DON'T LOOK ANYTHING LIKE HAMMERHEADS," he said.

According to the Daily Mail, park rangers arrived on the beach to take control of the situation and tried to assist the shark but it later died.
