Baby survives car crash just seconds after birth
Mokhles Raheema was rushing his pregnant wife to hospital when the baby girl started to appear. Mr Raheema, eager not to miss the big moment, diverted his attention from the road and accidentally steered the car into a ditch.
Amazingly, Mr Raheema's new born baby girl and his two young children sitting in the rear of the car were unhurt and, after a moment's panic, the baby was found unharmed underneath the passenger seat.
The mother, Samaher Mezban, said that she "hurt all over" following the incident but was otherwise uninjured.
Mr Raheema said, describing the incident on Swedish television, "She told me, 'she's coming out, she's coming out!'"
"I saw my daughter come out and fall headfirst onto the floor," he added.
The family was heading to a hospital in the eastern city of Gavle when the accident happened. Mr Raheema reportedly took his eyes off the road for a split second when he careered off the road.
When the car came to a stop, he saw his wife in the passenger seat and two children in the back conscious. But the baby girl had disappeared from sight.
He finally found her under the passenger seat. "I fetched her and held her against me. She was crying," Mr Raheema said.
To make matters worse, the car Mr Raheema was driving didn't belong to him; it reportedly belonged to a friend whom the proud new father has subsequently apologised to.
