Shops welcome credit card fee cap

Retailers have welcomed a proposal to cap "excessive and anti-competitive" card processing fees.

The European Commission has proposed to cap interchange fees, which retailers pay to card schemes and banks to process payments, at 0.3% of the transaction for credit cards and 0.2% for debit cards.
