A man who made a silly request while booking accommodation online was shocked to find the hotel had actually fulfilled it - a couple of months later.

Dustin Wray booked a room at the Woodlands Resort in Houston and, in the 'Comments or Special Request field', he wrote: "Three red M&Ms on the counter. Not packages, just three single M&Ms. One for me, one for my girlfriend, and one to split if we get hungry late at night. And a picture of bacon set on the bed. I love pictures of bacon."

He told ABC News: "I wrote it so that if they saw it they would laugh because it was stupid but also make it feasible if they actually wanted to fulfil it."

According to gadling.com, he uploaded the images to imgur.com and Reddit, and wrote: "I saw the three red M&M's there and it honestly confused me. I was staring at them thinking this is weird. And then Lauren started laughing at the picture on the bed [of bacon] and I turned around and looked and that's when it all clicked."

Wray's post on Reddit generated 80,000 views in four hours, as well as coverage on blogs and in newspapers, and Woodlands Hotel have offered him a complementary stay as a thank you for the positive publicity.

According to the Daily Mail, the couple booked to stay at the hotel on Sunday night as singer John Mayer was performing there.

Dustin has said he will gratefully return for his free night.
