A man who tried to lick a woman's foot while on a train has been jailed for 15 months.

Carlos Spigno, 50, from Erith, South East London, reportedly rubbed the passenger's feet despite her pleas for him to stop, before trying to lick her ankles and put his hand up her skirt.

This Is Local London reports that it was only when the woman hit him and threatened to call the police that he ran off at Waterloo East Station, clutching his bottles of wine and brandy.

Spigno was convicted of two counts of sexual assault on Friday 12 July at Blackfriars Crown Court.

According to the Mirror, Judge Peter Clarke said: "Mr Spigno is an unhappy individual.

"He has no conception of how devastating his behaviour is towards defenceless women and he still has no idea."

His victim was travelling on a train towards Charing Cross station when the incident occurred on 5 September 2012.

She said the attack knocked her confidence and left her unable to return to her job in the security industry.

Spigno had reportedly initially insisted the woman had allowed him to fondle her feet.

According to This Is Local London, Judge Clarke added: "On the train he thought himself enormously attractive, which was of course a judgement that was rather alcohol-fuelled.

"She (the victim) said in evidence that he was good looking and perhaps that is something that the defendant trades on, because I would not disagree with that description.

"What he is not is attractive."

Spigno was also convicted of indecent exposure back in 1992.
