Police are investigating the alleged indecent assault of an 11-year-old girl at the Landguard Holiday Park in Shaklin, on the Isle of Wight.

Heart reports that police received a report of a man acting suspiciously towards an 11-year-old girl at around 1.15am on Saturday 22 June.

Hampshire Constabulary's Isle of Wight CID Detective Inspector Mark Tutton told The Daily Echo: "This appears to be a rare and isolated case, however we take matters of this nature extremely seriously and enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances.

"Specialist detectives remain in contact with the 11-year-old girl's family, who have returned home to the mainland. The girl was not injured.

"There is no information to suggest a wider risk to the community. Officers and PCSOs from local Safer Neighbourhoods teams are visiting other holiday sites on the island to provide reassurance. Our advice to parents and holiday park staff is to be alert, but not alarmed."
