A drunk driver has claimed that a low-calorie diet was to blame for a pair of accidents in which he collided with a total of three parked cars.

Stephen McGill admitted driving while over the influence of alcohol, and his solicitor added that he believed a period of dieting earlier in the year and the associated weight loss may have reduced his body's ability to cope with alcohol.
