New Dodge Viper SRT ready for GT3 race series
The monstrous Viper GT3-R you see before your eyes is designed to attract private teams looking to go up against the various Ferraris, Audis and Mercedes of the high octane GT3 races around the world.
The Le Mans GTS-R has heavily influenced proceedings and the GT3 version uses many of the same performance parts but when compared to a standard Viper, things really start heating up.
Around £70,000 gets a stock SRT Viper and that money buys a glorious V10 engine that produces 640bhp. The GT3 version packs a whopping 680bhp and has most of the weighty parts removed so it accelerates and handles like a proper race car.
Interested teams will have to stump up around £300,000 and then be able to afford the continual cost of running a high-end racing machine but that shouldn't get in the way of how glorious this thing looks.
Ralph Gilles, President and CEO - SRT Brand and Motorsports said: "There is no mistaking the similarities between the two which is a key component of this class of sports car racing. The GT3-R stays true to the visceral appeal of the Viper and has been carefully evolved for the demands of racing at a world class level."
