'Humiliated' girl told to 'cover herself' at airport

A 15-year-old girl was left "humiliated and shamed" when she was told by security staff at an airport in America to cover herself.

The daughter of website Boing Boing's founder Mark Frauenfelder was told "You're only 15, cover yourself" by an officer who was "glaring" at her at Los Angeles International Airport.

High school student Sarina was travelling with a group of friends on a university tour.

Frauenfelder took to his blogging website after his daughter told him about the incident and wrote: "This morning, a TSA officer at LAX humiliated and shamed my 15-year-old daughter.

"Here's what happened, as my daughter described it in text messages to us: she was at the station where the TSA checks IDs. She said the officer was 'glaring' at her and mumbling.

"She said, 'Excuse me?' and he said, 'You're only 15, COVER YOURSELF!' in a hostile tone. She said she was shaken up by his abusive manner."

Frauenfelder included a photo of his daughter's outfit (pictured) and said: "It doesn't matter what she was wearing, though, because it's none of his business to tell girls what they should or should not wear. His creepy thoughts are his own problem, and he shouldn't use his position of authority as an excuse to humiliate a girl and blame her for his sick attitude."

He later tweeted: "Spoke to LAX TSA. They were polite professional and concerned. The officer in charge said he is going to investigate".
