Bus driver spared jail after clinch with 14-year-old girl

A bus driver who kissed a 14-year-old girl at the back of his vehicle has been spared a jail sentence.

Christopher Forbes, 33, was placed on the sex offenders' register after the incident in Dundee back in March.

The married father-of-three has now been let off with a community payback order (CPO), according to the Daily Record.

According to news.stv.tv, Mr Forbes was seen by a shocked passer-by kissing the girl at the back of the bus he was driving after he pulled over and put it out of service.

The eyewitness reported the incident to the National Express Dundee customer service department, and the bus' CCTV system showed him walking to the back of the bus with the girl.

Fiscal depute Nicola Gillespie told news.stv.tv: "He said she had wanted to talk to him and that's why he had put the lights off and put the bus out of service.

"He admitted he had cuddled and kissed her at the back of the bus and that the kiss had lasted about ten seconds. He admitted he had put his tongue in her mouth. The CCTV footage shows them going to the back of the bus together."

Forbes pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16, but said he had believed she was 16 at the time of the incident.

The CPO will see Forbes carry out 80 hours of unpaid work.

He has since left his job with National Express.
