An easyJet flight to Amsterdam was forced to return to Glasgow on Friday morning when crew saw a crack in the cockpit windscreen.

The plane returned to Glasgow International Airport shortly after take-off after 10am.

An easyJet spokesman told the Scotsman: "EasyJet can confirm that flight EZY 6853 Glasgow to Amsterdam returned to Glasgow airport this morning due to a technical fault.

"The safety and welfare of our passengers and crew is always easyJet's priority and we would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused to the customers."

According to Hamilton Advertiser, a replacement service took passengers to Amsterdam later on Friday.
