Renault unveils Red Bull racer for the road

Renault has teamed up with energy drinks manufacturer Red Bull to create a limited edition Megane Renaultsport that celebrates the partnerships' third Formula 1 Constructors' world title.

The new flagship Megane features an exclusive Twilight Blue and Platinum Grey paint finish that hints at the famous Red Bull F1 car livery.> Other neat touches include: Red Bull badging throughout, Recaro seats, R-Link multimedia system and the R.S Monitor system that records lap times as well as providing G-Force readouts and logs 0-62mph sprints.

The basic underpinnings are shared with the brilliant Megane Renaultsport 265 Cup - so that means stiffer springs, dampers, an anti-roll bar, limited slip differential, grooved discs with Brembo callipers and the potent two-litre-turbocharged 265hp engine.

Only 30 Red Bull Racing RB8 models will be destined for the UK, making it even more exclusive than the hot Megane R.S 265 Cup it is based on and potential customers will have this reinforced thanks to numbered aluminium kickplates on the door sills.

The limited edition model may not boast the same kind of performance figures as its Formula 1 counterpart but it can still manage the 0-62mph sprint in just six seconds and go on to a top speed of 158mph.

It won't require F1 backing to run either, as it manages an impressive 34.4mpg on the combined cycle and produces just 190g/km.

The limited edition Megane Renaultsport Red Bull Racing RB8 will be available until 30 September 2013.

UK pricing will be made public closer to official launch.
