Police are investigating after a couple were found dead in the swimming pool at Down Hall Country House Hotel in Hatfield Heath last night.
The Daily Mail reports that the couple, a man in his 30s and woman in her 20s, were discovered at 7.35pm last night.
A police spokesperson told The Mirror: "Hotel staff and ambulance crews tried in vain to revive the man and woman but both were later pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are investigating and are treating the deaths as unexplained at this stage."
The couple are believed to have been from London. They have not yet been named.
On its website, Down Hall is described as "one of England's most established country house hotels."
It's a 45 minute drive from central London, and is located near Bishop's Stortford on the Hertfordshire and Essex border.
The hotel is a popular wedding venue, and hosted Jade Goody's wedding in 2009.
