Stars of the Shanghai motor show
China's car industry is huge and only set to get even bigger so it seems fitting that Shanghai hosts one of the largest (in terms of square feet) motor shows on the planet.
Inside, famous luxury brands known the world over sit beside unpronounceable Chinese marques that will likely mean nothing to us Westerners.
Regardless, it's a cracking place to see some exclusive unveilings and stare in amazement at some of the more questionable models much loved by the Chinese.
This year, Ford revealed that its famous Escort badge will return as a China-only compact saloon some time in the near future. The Ford Escort Concept hopes to tap in to five million compact saloon sales in China each year but we can't help thinking it looks a little bit 'unfinished'.
Maserati also unveiled the BMW 5-Series rivalling Ghibli, while Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen took the opportunity to take the wraps off two interesting SUV concepts – the GLA and Crossblue.
