Euromillions jackpot win no April fool

Pound notesWhen EastJet flight attendant Kelly Caldwell, 29, won a £1 million Euromillions jackpot her boyfriend Jason Massey refused to believe that she was telling him the truth.

But the win was no joke, and Caldwell and Massey are now planning a luxury trip to Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt for Caldwell's birthday.

The couple are also planning on buying a new house, new cars and treating their grandparents to a dream holiday to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado and Caldwell's daughter Hollie, 2, to a trip to Disneyland Paris.

Caldwell's luck was certainly in on the day of the win - Good Friday - as she also won £700 playing bingo in her home town of Runcorn on the same day.

"I'm ecstatic, very surreal, but it's starting to sink in now," Caldwell told the Daily Mail. "Things like this don't happen to ordinary working-class people like me."

That's a rather different reaction to double lottery winner George Traykov, from Iford in Essex.

In a Euromillions draw on November 16 last year, he picked up £160,873.80 to add to the £1 million he won in 2011.

But, according to the BBC, Traykov, who has been spending his first win on private school for his daughter and his hobby skydiving, said that he "wasn't really that bothered" about this latest win.

He nevertheless plans to go on holiday to Cancun, Mexico, for a few weeks before refurnishing the family home.

The Mexican self-made telecoms mogul tops the rich list with a wealth that, as Forbes reports, if it were a country would be the eighth richest in Latin America.

Ellison founded Oracle Corporation, a leading enterprise software company. He's America's third richest man and Forbes has reported that he recently bought 98% of the Hawaiian island of Lanai from David Murdock for a reported sum of $500 million.

Koch built his fortune on chemicals and refining and shares the sixth position on the rich list with his billionaire brother, David Koch.

Tied sixth in the rich list with his elder brother Charles, David runs the chemical equipment side of Koch Industries from his New York home.

This self-made billionaire is Asia's richest man and currently supplies a quarter of British people with gas after acquiring British gas supplier Wales & West Utilities for $1 billion last October.

The only woman in the top ten, Bettencourt's father founded L'Oreal and now she and her family own 30% of the French cosmetics super brand.
