Choose your meal before you fly: Airline launches drag and drop menu

Forget fighting for the last chicken sandwich on a cheap flight: as one airline has found a solution to passengers' inflight food dilemmas by offering the world's first pre-ordering system for airline food.

Next month, Air Baltic passengers will be able to log on to the website 24 hours before boarding and drag and drop items from a menu onto a virtual tray to create a meal of their choice.

At the moment, the airline offers 20 pre-order meal options and four dietary meals, including gluten-free, lactose-free, vegetarian and kosher.

But the new 'pick and choose' system will offer endless possibilities.

According to InflightFeed, passengers must order their meals 24 hours before flying, though forgetful travellers can still have an inflight meal (lasagne option only) which can be booked up to 40 minutes before a flight at the ticket desk in Riga.
