Could Cameron withhold benefits from EU immigrants?

The immigration bandwagon is gathering pace, and now David Cameron has leaped into the driving seat. In a speech today are plans to stop immigrants from the EU from claiming benefits in the UK after six months - unless they can prove they have been continuously looking for work during that time and have a decent chance of getting work.

But why is he making this move, and will the EU let him?
