Why Europe could force you to fail your MOT

Motorists should brace themselves for MOT failure and a hefty repair bill, because the EU has decided we need to make our MOTs tougher. New rules covering the whole of Europe will add twenty more tests to the current MOT from today - and will mean that if you're driving round with a dashboard warning light on, you're set for failure.

So is this a welcome boost for safety, or a pointless and expensive bit of red tape?
