Bond star Daniel Craig test drives Aston Martin
Craig was pictured taking delivery of the convertible sports car outside his London home last week, sparking reports that the star had splashed out on the £150,000 motor as a 45th birthday present to himself.
The Scarlet convertible is actually part of Aston Martin's press fleet, and is loaned out to journalists and other individuals for evaluation purposes.
It certainly wouldn't be the first time that A-list celebrities have been courted by luxury car manufacturers. Just yesterday is emerged that Bentley had gifted Cheryl Cole with her own Mulsanne limousine worth £265,000. One can only assume it was for her, er, services to music.
Wearing eye-catching 19-inch wheels and being slathered in carbon-fibre details, Craig's Vantage is rather more flashy than the vintage DB5 coupe that stole the limelight in Skyfall.
The V12 Roadster is the flagship of the Vantage range, and while it's not likely to be fitted with the machine guns and ejector seats of Bond's car, there's more than enough to keep Craig entertained.
The Vantage's 5.9-litre engine develops 510bhp, enough to propel the two-seater from 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 190mph.
Craig isn't the only Bond actor to be seduced by the iconic British marque. While filming Goldfinger, Sean Connery owned a DB5 similar to the one he drove to movie stardom - a car that would later be dubbed the most famous car in the world.
Pierce Brosnan is another Bond actor bitten by the Aston Martin bug. He splashed out on a V12 Vanquish - then the marque flagship and last hand-built Aston - after taking to the wheel of one in Die Another Day.
