Wet and grim weekend for Britain while snow and ice warnings issued
Forecasters have predicted a miserable weekend for Britain with wet weather and more freezing temperatures.
The Daily Mail reports that Saturday morning will be 'pretty grim and wet' in London, East Anglia and the south east, according to forecasters.
Craig Snell of the Met Office told the newspaper: 'It is going to be feeling rather cold this weekend and very unsettled. We will see longer spells of rain and possibly sleet and snow at times. It will be an unsettled, cold weekend for all of us.'
And the unreasonably cold weather we have been experiencing this week is likely to continue into next week.
Forecasters warned temperatures are likely to plunge again on Tuesday and Wednesday with more snow expected.
Mr Snell said: 'We are expecting across most parts of the country - particularly the north - on Tuesday and Wednesday that temperatures will again take a tumble and there will be an increased chance of snow at lower levels.
'At the moment it does look like it will be cold for all of us during the middle part of the week.'
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of snow in Scotland on Saturday for the Highlands and Eilean Siar, Grampian, Strathclyde, Central, Tayside and Fife and South West Scotland.
For Sunday, there is a yellow warning of ice in South West England, East and West Midlands, Yorkshire and North West England.
Meanwhile, meteorologist Leon Brown of The Weather Channel told Aol Travel: 'No sign at the moment that we will see above normal temperatures for the rest of March.
'It is likely to be the coldest March since 2006 and perhaps 1996. 2006 had the coldest first three weeks since 1962, but ended warmer, offsetting the colder start. If this March remains below average, as looks likely, it may be colder than 2006.'
