Tourists shocked as teacher jumps to her death into Iguazu Falls

A woman has jumped to her death at the Iguazu Falls in Argentina in front of hundreds of horrified tourists.

Some onlookers screamed out in an attempt to prevent Monica Heck, 37, from taking the 300ft plunge, but to no avail.

A video posted on Youtube, taken by one tourist, shows her climbing over a railing, standing on a rock and lowering herself into the cascade.

El Litoral Concordia reports that the body of Ms Heck, who was from Puerto Esperanza in Argentina, was later found floating in the water.

Ms Heck was a teacher who was believed to be terminally ill. She had posted several messages on Facebook about depression.

The Iguazu Falls are one of the world's largest waterfalls, and was named one of the new seven wonders of nature in 2011.
