Video: Adorable polar bear cub makes debut at Buffalo Zoo

A three-month-old polar bear cub called Luna met the public for the first time on Friday at Buffalo Zoo. SCROLL DOWN FOR VIDEO.

The gorgeous cub, weighing in at 23lbs, was born on 27 November, and staff at the zoo are hoping she will encourage the New York community to donate towards their new polar bear enclosure.

According to the zoo's blog, it has spent the past two years raising over $14 million of the $18 million needed to build a new entrance and Arctic Edge polar bear exhibit.

They are now asking the surrounding community to help raise the remaining $4 million required to build the exhibit and keep polar bears in Buffalo.

Luna's parents, mum Anana, and dad Nanuq, had to be relocated after the zoo's previous polar bear enclosure no longer met national standards.

Mum Anana did not show maternal instincts towards Luna, and she has been hand-reared by the zoo's veterinary technician and keepers.

According to the Metro, zoo keeper Alice Rohauer said: "She is fun to take care of. She plays a lot more now and she interacts with me a lot more. She plays with toys now, so it's fun to watch

"She's a handful, but it's fun."

The cub is currently too small to go on permanent exhibit for the public, but she will be visible on a closed-circuit television in the zoo's M&T Bank Rainforest Falls and the zoo will also post regular updates to its website and Facebook page.
