A British bride has died after falling from a hotel window on her honeymoon in Dubai.

Abbie Emmett, 27, reportedly fell out of the window of the hotel where she was staying with her new husband, Sean Emmett, a MotoGP racer.

The Daily Mirror reports that police in Dubai are investigating the circumstances of the fall on Tuesday, just days after the couple arrived following their wedding in South Africa.

Devastated friends of the vicar's daughter said they were shocked by the news of her death.

One friend who did not want to be named said: 'Abbie was a lovely person. We have been friends for a number of years.

'I couldn't believe it when I heard what had happened. I heard she went through a window in their hotel while they were on honeymoon.

'They only married a few weeks ago, while they were in Cape Town.'

According to the Daily Mail, Abbie had been sharing a flat in Addlestone, Surrey, with Mr Emmett, a divorced father of three.

Neighbour Nicolene Turvey, 27, said: 'I feel so sad. She is such a young girl, the same age as me.

'It's devastating for everyone. She really wanted to have kids and she had that maternal instinct.'

A Foreign Office spokesman said it was providing consular assistance to the family at 'this difficult time'.

He said: 'We were made aware of the death of a British national in Dubai on 19 February.'

Sean has retired from racing and is a private instructor. He has won 19 Superbike races and clocked up 50 MotoGP appearances.
