This beautiful time-lapse video of Namibia's night time skies was taken by Dutch professional photographer Marsel van Oosten, who has previously won awards from National Geographic for his work. His work has won as first place in the 2012 Travel Photographer of the Year Awards (Wild Planet category).

Each second consists of 30 photographs: in all, Oosten shot more than 16,000 over two years in order to create this video.

According to his write up on Vimeo, Oosten says: " The hardest scene of ll was probably the mist scene in Deadvlie. Mist in Deadvlie only occurs around five times a year, so we had to keep a close eye on the weather predictions and many attempts were unsuccessful. When we finally got it right, the results far exceeded our expectations and show Deadvlei as no one has ever seen it before."
