Number of first-time buyers rises

The number of first-time buyers in the UK rose to its highest level in five years during 2012, lenders have said.


Some 216,200 people became homeowners for the first time last year with loans worth £27.3 billion, marking a 12% increase on 2011, the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) said.
