Cyclists rescued on Anglesey breakwater in 'horrendous' weather

A pair of cyclists were rescued in Anglesey after they pedalled out to the breakwater in 'horrendous' weather.

The BBC reports that a request was launched for the Holyhead inshore lifeboat to assist the two local men on Monday evening after they were spotted a mile-and-a-half out to sea with waves crashing over them.

It was feared they could be swept or blown into the water.

RNLI says that one of its volunteer crew members clambered on to the breakwater to assist the men, in their early 20s.

Paramedics and Ambulance crews also offered assistance to bring the pair to safety.

They were taken to Holyhead Lifeboat Station and handed over to Ambulance crews.
