Wish you were here? Quebec's Ice Hotel opens

These pics of Quebec's newly opened ice hotel have (almost) made us stop wishing that winter was over. OK, so we admit that we've had enough of the sludge and frost in the UK - but they know how to do a big freeze properly in Canada.

After weeks of hard work, the Hotel de Glace is now open for its 13th season. Just ten minutes from Quebec city, the hotel features huge snow vaults and crystalline ice sculptures.

Highlights include a grand ice slide, a spacious ice bar and an array of family activities – and for the first time this year the hotel is running workshops where guests can try their hand at making their very own ice glass.
