MPs managed to rack up more than £4m in travel expense claims in 2011/2012 after data published by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority revealed the true costs to the public.

Auto Express picked up on the report which shows that politicians landed taxpayers with a bill of more than £2.3m for using public transport and £1.1m-plus for the cost of traveling in their own cars around their constituencies or to Westminster.
