Hot Ford Fiesta ST prices revealed
The range-topping ST2, that features a slightly better list of optional extras, will cost £1000 more but the price tag is still cheaper than its closest rivals.> The new Fiesta ST will take the fight to the likes of the nippy Peugeot 208 GTi and the historically well-composed RenaultSport Clio 200. It can't quite match its rivals for outright performance, the fast Ford will kick out 180bhp from the 1.6 litre EcoBoost engine, as opposed to the 208's 197bhp and the Renault's 200bhp.
But the Ford comes in at around £1,000 cheaper than its potent rivals and the critically acclaimed EcoBoost engine is still capable of smashing the 0-62mph sprint in 6.9 seconds and go on to hit a top speed of 136mph.
The Fiesta ST will also benefit from Ford's attention to detail as experts at the infamous Nurburgring honed this model to be a brilliant drivers' car.
Suspension is 15mm lower that the standard Fiesta, a three-stage ESP system has been put in place to allow the driver greater control over traction settings, grippy Recaro race seats hold occupants in place and 17-inch alloys (plus ST badging) make sure passers-by know this machine means business.
Despite the performance credentials, the Fiesta ST is expected to return around 40mpg and emit just 138g/km of CO2. The only downside is UK customers will only be offered a three-door version; the 5-door variant is reserved for US clients only.
