An Air India pilot is facing the possibility of losing her job after refusing last-minute orders to change flights - because she'd arranged to pick up her favourite dumplings on the original route.

Captain Smriti Trehan allegedly refused to switch her scheduled Mumbai-Jodphur-Delhi flight to a late direct flight between Mumbai and Delhi, according to news.com.au.

An inquiry has now been launched after Trehan informed operators she wouldn't change her plans, and would fly the originally scheduled flight to Jodphur, where her dumplings were being delivered.

According to the Telegraph, the flight was delayed for an hour as a result, and sparked chaos at the airport when she failed to turn up for the service, leaving staff scrambling to find a replacement pilot.

They must have been super-tasty dumplings...
