New mansion for William and Kate? How does it measure up?

The rumour-mills have been busy, after the Sandringham Estate submitted plans to revamp a mansion called Anmer Hall (pictured). The Palace hasn't commented on whether the tenant is likely to change, but that hasn't stopped the gossips from claiming that the Queen is likely to give it to William and Kate as a new country retreat.

So, assuming the rumours are true, how does this compare to the normal fate of a new family?
