Peekaboo! Motorist snaps comedy moment three raccoons pop through grate

It's not what you expect to see as you pull up at a red light.
But motorist Anthony Richards managed to snap the cute moment three raccoons all popped their heads through a road grate to say hello at the same time in California.
According to the Daily Mail, the department of Animal Care and Control for the County of Los Angeles says the critters are attracted to urban areas by easy access to food, water and shelter.

But, while they might look cute, they can cause damage to buildings, lawns and bins, as well as carry disease and parasites.
Raccoons are native to North America, and are known for having high intelligence levels. Their original habitats are forests but they can also be found in mountainous areas, coastal marshes and, obviously, urban areas, where some homeowners consider them pests.
But they certainly know how to have a grate time...
