Prices and specifications for the motoring equivalent of the donkey have been announced.

The charming and rugged new Fiat Panda 4x4 will cost from £13,950 when it arrives in showrooms early next year, while the Panda Trekking – a two-wheel drive version – will cost£12,450 for the TwinAir version and £13,450 for the MultiJet.
The latest go-anywhere Panda 4x4 is the third-generation of the model, and has a permanent four-wheel drive system. It features body-coloured "4x4 style" bumpers with satin aluminium finished skid-plate, roof rails, side mouldings with a "4x4" logo, black wheel arches and side skirts, 15-inch dark alloy wheels and raised ground clearance suspension.

Inside, the Panda 4x4 has twin-coloured seats, coloured dashboard, door panels in coloured "eco-leather", and a gloss black instrument surround.

Trekking models get a similar treatment, but with a black skid-plate instead of satin aluminium and lighter finish alloy wheels.

The full engine line-up is made up of the TwinAir 0.9-litre petrol (85bhp), giving the Panda 4x4 a top speed of 103mph (Trekking: 106mph), while combined MPG is 57.6 (Trekking: 61.4mpg) and a CO2 figure of 114g/km (Trekking: 105g/km).

Meanwhile the MultiJet (75bhp) can reach 99mph (Trekking: 100mph), returns 60.1mpg (Trekking: 67.3mpg) and has a CO2 figure of 125g/km (Trekking: 109g/km).

Elena Bernardelli, marketing director, Fiat Group Automobiles UK, said: "The Fiat Panda 4x4 is one of the best-known, and most capable four-wheel drive cars available, and we are delighted to announce it for the UK.

"And the new Panda Trekking is also an exciting introduction from Fiat, and will be an ideal choice for customers who care about style but don't need a full 4x4."
