Building societies agree merger

Nottingham Building Society has announced plans to take the Shepshed Building Society under its wing, with a merger expected in July next year.

The move will mean that the Shepshed's 7,000 members will be able to use the 31 branches offered by the Nottingham, which is the UK's ninth largest building society with over 200,000 members and assets of £2.4 billion.
