Hyundai's i30 hits 500,000 units in Europe

Wondering why you've seen so many Hyundai i30s on UK roads?

Well, it's because the Korean firm has announced the car has passed the 500,000 production mark.
More than half a million units of i30 have been sold in Europe since the first-generation model went on sale in 2007. Meanwhile, worldwide, the car has surpassed the one million sales mark.

In the UK, the i30 is also one of the brand's most popular models having sold just over 59,000 units since 2007.

The New Generation i30, along with the majority of the original i30, is produced at Hyundai's manufacturing facility in Nošovice, Czech Republic, which opened in 2008.

Allan Rushforth, senior vice president and COO of Hyundai Motor Europe, said: "Since launch in 2007, the i30 has become the centre of gravity for our brand in Europe. It was our first car to de designed and made here, offering customers high quality, low emissions and great value – characteristics now synonymous with the Hyundai brand."

According to the latest November sales figures, the New Generation i30, along with the new i20 and ix35, are the best-selling models in Europe. New Generation i30 accounted for 24 per cent of sales in November with 9,014 units sold out of a total of 37,000 units across the region for the month.
