Man trapped under pilot's dead body for two hours after plane crash gets €1.7m

An Irishman who was trapped under a pilot's dead body after a plane crash has been awarded at least €1.7 million.
Kevin Barry Jnr suffered extensive fractures and a brain injury in the crash, and told the court this week that rescuers did not notice him in the cockpit until he called out.
Mr Barry had joined the pilot, Matt Masterson, from Dublin, and accountant, Paul McNamee, from Co Galway, on a demonstration flight in a Cessna single engine plane.
They were returning from lunch on the Aran Islands when the crash happened on 5 July 2007.
As the plane was coming into land at Connemara airstrip, it struck a small outcrop, bounced 100ft, cat-wheeled and crashed, according to independent.ie.
Both the pilot and the accountant died in the crash.
Mr Barry sought damages for pain and suffering, as well as €1.7 million for past and future loss of earnings over a host of businesses and investments.
