Chunky Dacia supermini - from £7,995

Dacia Sandero Stepway
Dacia is continuing its rampage on the UK market by announcing details of its third new model.

Called the Sandero Stepway, it's a supermini with roughtie-toughtie styling, a raised ride height and an asking price of £7,995.
Dacia says thanks to the 40mm raise, the Sandero Stepway is "easier to get in and out of, has a better view of the road ahead, and is a doddle to park and manoeuvre around town".

To make it look like a chunky SUV crossover, the Stepway boasts special bodywork additions over the run-of-the-mill Sandero supermini.

It gains front and rear scuffplates to prevent grassy mounds from damaging the undersides, wheelarch extensions and roof bars so you can carry your petrol cans, shovels and weekend supplies should you wish to do so.

The Sandero Stepway is seen, quite literally, as a step up from the Sandero supermini – so there's no poverty spec version. Stepway models come in two flavours – Ambience and Laureate – and two engines – a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel.

The £7,995 Ambience version gets electric front windows, front fog lamps, 16-inch alloys, Bluetooth and metallic paint. Meanwhile the top-draw Laureate model boasts a seven-inch multimedia system with sat-nav, a chrome front grille, cruise control, rear parking sensors and air conditioning.

Stepway models are now ready for ordering online.
