Marriage tax break 'crunch point'

George Osborne has faced fresh Tory demands to use next week's Autumn Statement to recognise marriage in the tax system despite the risk that the move would create further tensions within the coalition Government.


Former families minister Tim Loughton said the December 5 statement was the Government's last chance to make "absolutely clear the importance it places on marriage" by giving a tax break.
