A man has been arrested after allegedly punching a female passenger in the face repeatedly on a packed Cardiff to Swansea train.

According to the BBC, a 43-year-old man was arrested after the assault, which happened after the Wales v New Zealand match at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday.

The 27-year-old woman was taken to Swansea's Morriston Hospital after the attack, and British Transport Police (BTP) are now seeking information about the incident.

According to This Is South Wales, a BTP spokesman said: "The train, the 19.43 service from Cardiff to Swansea, would have been busy with others who may have attended the Wales v New Zealand rugby international.

"Anyone who was on the train and witnessed the alleged assault is urged to contact British Transport Police as a matter of urgency."

Call the British Transport Police on 0800 405040 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Quote incident 611, from 24 November.
