Rare white tiger attacks three after escaping Czech zoo enclosure

A rare white tiger has attacked three employees at a Czech zoo after escaping its enclosure.

The big cat, named Paris, escaped from its dwelling at Liberec Zoo, the only zoo in the Czech Republic that keeps white tigers.

One man was taken to hospital with non life-threatening head injuries while, and two women were being treated for minor injuries, according to spokeswoman for the rescuers, Lenka Markovicova, reports The Jakarta Post.

According to The Guardian, zoo spokesman Ivan Langr said the tiger had been tranquillised and posed no further danger.

He added the the zoo employees were shocked by the incident and it was not immediately apparent who was to blame for the escape.

According to the Calgary Post, white tigers are the result of both parents having a recessive gene. They are rare in the wild because they stand out in the jungle, hindering their efforts to catch prey.
