Mel B wasn't sure what to expect on her shotgun tour of western New South Wales in Australia - but the former Spice Girl admits it turned out to be quite an arresting trip after an embarrassing bungle ended with her slapped in handcuffs for more than half an hour.

Travelling to the tiny town of Albert - population: 11- with local-boy-turned-X-Factor-Australia-finalist Jason Owen on Thursday, it wasn't long before Mel B found herself on the wrong side of the law.

The TV talent show judge happily posed in handcuffs with a local police officer before an embarrassed Senior Constable Walter Biles was forced to admit he had accidentally left the keys in Parkes - more than 100km away.

He had to radio to a nearby patrol car to come and supply keys to remove the handcuffs.

The local townsfolk were more than happy to keep her captive with stories about Jason as Mel B settled in with a schooner at the family's Rabbit Trap Hotel and waited to be released.
