Bank chief powers plan 'ridiculous'

The Government is planning to give the unelected governor of the Bank of England a "ridiculous" amount of power, Labour claims.

Opposition Treasury spokesman Lord Eatwell warned the post would become "excessively politicised" under reforms to financial regulation.
