Almost 11,000 people have applied for 1,500 jobs at a new Center Parcs holiday village being built in Bedfordshire.

The BBC reports that construction work has begun on the £250m resort at Warren Wood near Woburn and it is due to open in 2014.

The company has a range of jobs on offer, including chefs, beauty therapists and ground assistants.

It will be Center Parcs' fifth UK resort and will include 625 forest lodges, a 75-bedroom hotel, a swimming pool and lake.

Existing resorts are at Whinfell Forest in Cumbria, Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire, Elveden Forest in Suffolk and Longleat Forest in Wiltshire.
