Job titles can affect car insurance premiums by as much as £1,366 a year, according to data from Moneysupermarket.com.

Those in professions considered to be low risk by the insurance industry, such as nursing and teaching, secure the best deals, while those with riskier careers such as in sports and the media face rocketing premiums.
