Price of loaf of bread up by 7p

Britons are spending more and more dough on bread, with the average price of a standard loaf shooting up 7p to £1.22 since the summer.

The average retail price of a normal 800g loaf of bread, taking in the cost of Warburtons, Hovis and Kingsmill, as well as own brands, has soared since July as bakers pass on severe increases in wheat costs, the Grocer magazine reported.
