Bikini-clad Halle Berry gets very close to great white sharks in South Africa

A new collection of images show Halle Berry within metres of fearsome great white sharks as she took time off filming her latest movie, Dark Tide, in South Africa.
The Academy Award-winning actress is pictured in her bikini leaning over the crew's boat to observe the school of great whites below.

While trying to get a better look at the sharks, one member of the crew supports Halle by holding her hand.
One shark can be seen making a huge splash underneath Halle while she holds out her hand above the water's surface.
Halle even got to touch one of the beautiful predators, and said of the experience: "Apparently, I'm one of the very few people who have done that. How did I manage it? Very carefully."

In the movie, Halle plays an experienced open water diver who faces the difficult decision of getting back into the water following a near-fatal great white shark attack.
Halle met her now-fiancé Olivier Martinez while shooting the movie, and the actor plays her old diving partner and ex-husband, Jeff, who convinces her to get back into the water and face her past.

The pair filmed the movie on location in Seal Island, False Bay, where the dense population of fur seals at certain times of the year attracts their main predator, the great white sharks.
Seal Island provides unique opportunities for tourists who wish to observe attacks by the sharks on Cape Fur Seal and to observe social interactions among both species.
The island is also well known for the dramatic way the sharks grab their prey: they come up from underneath and literally launch themselves out of the water with the seal in their mouth.
